DB Bell’s novel ‘The Grey House Family’ is set in Spennymoor in 1969.
It is based upon the house the author himself grew up in until 1968, as well as his personal experience growing up in the area.
Bell says: “The novel describes living conditions in Spennymoor in 1969, and why the family were moved out of a house that was basically unfit to live in.
“The events after they leave the house are purely fictitious, and take that humble Spennymoor family on a joyride of experiences, both good and bad.
“It’s a cosy crime novel and is only £1.99 to download, or £8.99 as a paperback, both on Amazon.”
