Last year, Cleves Cross Ambassadors for Community Change wrote to Councillor Joe Quinn with their concerns about the speed vehicles travel down Wood Lane.
Over the past couple of years, Ambassadors have worked with the police and the Community Speed Watch group to not only encourage drivers to slow down but to also collect evidence of speeding.
They also collected evidence to show the majority of drivers slow down when they are reminded by a temporary speed awareness sign.
Glenys from Approach Too said: “The Ambassadors were absolutely delighted when Councillor Quinn got in touch last week to tell them that he has worked on funding for a permanent Speed Awareness Sign for Wood Lane and his application has been supported by all three County Councillors.
“The role of the Ambassadors for Community Change is to help bring about positive change to our community and to work with people who can help them.
“They have met with Councillor Quinn on Wood Lane along with Paul Howell MP and Police and Crime Commissioner, Joy Allen to highlight the danger for pedestrians.
“Speeding is always an issue with both children and adult residents.
“Through data collected by the Ambassadors in their Crime Survey, as well as practically collecting evidence by the roadside, the Ambassadors have worked really hard to come up with a solution to make drivers aware of their speed and to encourage them to do the right thing and slow down.
“Very well done to everyone involved in achieving this positive outcome for the whole community.”
