Saturday saw the third generation of a Ferryhill family of runners take to the road with Sophia Quinn of Chilton Academy, finishing in the top 2% in the Mini Great North Run, in Newcastle.
Grandfather Stephen Quinn, above, competed in ‘The Nationals’ as a schoolboy and Sophia’s father Kyle Quinn, on the right above, competed in various races, as a schoolboy.
Alex Quinn, on the left, came third in the corresponding race in 2003, but all have to agree that the star of today is Sophia, below.
All family and friends congratulate Sophia on an excellent performance and hope that they have a future athlete in the making.
