At Shildon Civic Hall on Monday 28th April, the Shildon’s Chamber of Trade was officially re-launched. The Chamber has established a Facebook page named ‘Shildon Businesses’ and is hoping to incorporate a loyalty card to benefit loyal customers and encourage trade within the town.
The idea of the Chamber is as the name suggests; ‘working together as one’. “It is a Chamber for all, whether businesses attend meetings or not. We intend to tackle issues such as parking and hope to re-establish links with development agencies, the local council and the police” said a spokesperson.
Meetings will take place the last Monday of every month with the exception of bank holidays, although the next meeting will be Wednesday 28th May, because Monday 26th May is a bank holiday. At the inaugural meeting well over 20 business people attended. At the next meeting members from AAP, police, Shildon Council and Durham County Council will hopefully be present.
All businesses in Shildon can join. Membership is £30 per year with charitable organisations paying only £15.
