What a fantastic location and facilities the Resthouse is providing for the Veterans get togethers with another great attendance of over 20 coming for a chat, tea, coffee and refreshments, writes Glenn Gibson.
Many thanks to Eldon Community Partnership for donating some old stock of chairs to the Resthouse and for the fantastic amount of £90 towards the Veterans Hub which will hopefully help with a day out and other activities.
The Hub is starting to grow and get involved with other groups in the area and hopefully in the future form a lasting partnership and support.
Due to me, who writes this news up, being on holiday and unable to attend the last meeting, I can only report on feedback given to by those who come along.
But from what I hear, everyone continues to enjoy themselves and love the new location. Nobody has to book in to attend, its free to just come along and join in.
The next get together will be on Wednesday 17 July from 11am to 2pm.
Amy from Groundworks has confirmed she will be attending and will give a short talk and advice on energy savings and any support they can offer.
The continued talk of having a day out for the Veterans is also ongoing, so a day, possibly Saturday 31 August will be looked at.
A trip to Eden Camp in Pickering through the day with a stop off at the Last Post Memorial Bar in Thornaby on the way home for a few drinks is the plan.
Of course everything will need to be organised, including transport and prices confirmed, but hold this day aside and keep an eye out in this paper and don’t forget to come to the meetings.
As always, I will continue with thanks to be given to those organisations who continue to support us month after month: Shildon Town Council, Shildon Alive for their continued donations of food which we all like and devour and of course, Health Express for the use of the Resthouse.
