Shildon’s senior runners have had a busy last month, but undeterred took to the action again in the Richmond Castle 10k.

The wet and blustery conditions, together with a tough undulating course, could not prevent Chris Griffith from leading the Shildon athletes home in 44.54s, just a week after he’d completed the Keilder Marathon in a fine time of 3hrs 34m.

Following in Chris’s footsteps were Steve Minns (45.54), Eddie Murphy (47.58), David Beadle (49.04), and club coach Andrew Griffiths (50.18).

Gareth Shaw was unfortunate to pick up an injury while running the course which forced him to withdraw, but did not deter him from cheering on his fellow club team mates.

An oversight in last week’s report on the nysd XC at Acklam Grange meant u11b Ben Etherington was missed from the results. Ben finished in a creditable 19th place.

Shildon Running & Athletic club is open to anyone from the age of 8 upwards.

“If you are interested in joining the club please come along for a free try out session,” said a spokesperson.
