
Members of Shildon Running & Athletic Club travelled far and wide in recent weeks to take part in runs overseas and in support of Ukraine.
Cath and Salv McDonnel, along with Sue Cook and Dave Anderson took part in the Dentdale 14.2 mile run.
Dave was the first Shildon runner home with a time of 1h 44m followed by Salv (2.10), Sue (2.24) and Cath (2.33).
Senior runner and youth coach Richard Trowles headed to Carlisle for the 10K in support of victims of the war in Ukraine along with two of the club’s top youth runners, Jack Warters and Mikey Taylor.
Jack gave an amazing performance coming 6th overall with a time of 38m 47s, followed closely by Richard (40m 50s) and Mikey (49m 16s).
Further afield a group of SRAC runners and supporters headed to Prague for a weekend of sightseeing, fun and a scenic 5k run.
Viv and Ian Rudge, JP Hupin, John Gray, Emma Flynn, Kev Thornton and Chris Griffith were supported in all their activities by Scott Flynn and Julie Griffith.
Reports from the group were that both the run and after-run beers were enjoyed by all!
