Shildon Remembrance Day Parades

The annual Shildon Remembrance Parades will take place on 8 November at Redworth Road, New Shildon with the main parade taking place on the 9 November 2025 along Church Street.

Church Street and part of Main Street in Shildon will be closed to vehicles from 10.30am on Sunday, 9 November 2025 to allow the Remembrance Day Service and Parade to go ahead. The parade will commence to march down Church Street at 10.45am to arrive at the War Memorial for a two-minute silence at 11.00am.

Following consultation and meetings, the Order of Parade will be – Clergy, Standard Bearers, MP, Town Mayor and consort, Veterans, Servicemen, Civic Dignitaries including both Shildon Town Council and Durham County Council Councillors, Uniformed Services (Police, Fire Service etc), local groups, and organisations and members of the public. Everyone to assemble outside of Shildon Alive, Church Street, Shildon.

Shildon Branch – Royal British Legion invite and encourage serving members of HM Armed Forces and Veterans to take part in the parade.

It has also been decided to continue with the parade after the Service and there will a march past a Dias towards the Civic Hall where nominated persons will take a salute.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be available at the Shildon Civic Hall after the Service and Parade.

On Saturday, 8 November 2025 a short Remembrance Service will take place at the War Memorial in Redworth Road, Shildon, opposite the Railway Institute. Please assemble at 10.45am for the short parade to the War Memorial followed by the Service.

Wreaths must be collected from the Town Council Offices, Civic Hall Square, Shildon by noon on Friday, 7th November. Cheques to be made payable to the ‘Royal British Legion’.
