Shildon Loyalty Card is officially launched

P1320999eThe much publicised Shildon Loyalty Card is finally here, officially launching after the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree by the Mayor of Shildon, Councillor Henry Nicholson.

The tree lighting and the launch of the Loyalty Card followed Shildon’s first Christmas Market, a collaboration between the town Council and the Chamber of Trade, an event which kept the Town buzzing throughout the day.

The President of the Chamber of Trade, Christopher Bowman presented an award to the girl who designed the front of the Loyalty Cards. This bright colourful image was created by 14 year-old Courtney Johnson.

Loyalty Cards cost £5.00, renewable yearly, and are available from participating retailers. Once purchased, they can be used to redeem discounts and special offers at a number of shops.

A spokesperson said “By having a card you are showing you care about your town, care about supporting local businesses, and care about saving money.

“As for the design competition, all the entries were fabulous, making the judge’s decision so much harder. Eventually prizes were awarded to the two winning design entries, and they were, in the Primary School category, Chloe Sisson aged 8, and in the Secondary School category, Courtney Johnson aged 14. Courtney’s was chosen as the overall winner. To all who entered their designs for the competition, a great big thank you.”
