Shildon AFC shook off their home hoodoo at last with a 4-3 win at Dean Street against Marske United.
The side had lost every home game this season after scoring first and fans may have feared the worst when Andre Ardelean converted from the spot in the 13th minute to open the scoring.
They may have felt even more justified when McCrorie Carmichael levelled proceedings after another penatly award at the other end just seven minutes later.
However, Aaron Cunningham gave the home side hope their luck had turned when he put them back in front on the stroke of half time.
However, history indeed appeared to be repeating itself when Millen Burnett restored parity on the hour.
Ardelean had other ideas though, and a double within five minutes, on 72 and 77 minutes, looked at last to have killed the curse.
But hearts were back in mouths when Joel White reduced the deficit, again from the spot, in the 82nd minute.
However, Harry McCalmont’s late red card for the vistors allowed the hosts to see the game through for their first home win of the season.
This weekend they travel to Guisborough in the FA Vase 2QR.
