A narrow midweek win on the road earned Shildon three league points in Northallerton after another dismal weekend defeat saw the side throw away a winning position once again on Saturday.

Whickham were the weekend visitors and Shildon, as they have regularly done, took the lead, netting in the first minute through Andre Ardelean.

They then re-took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Jon Weirs after the visitors had levelled midway through the half, but two Whickham goals in the second half had the home support experienceing another perplexing collapse.

However, Luke Spalding’s second half winner at Northallerton saw the side gain its first points in four games and they currently sit sixth in the table, already six points behind leaders Redcar Athletic.

This weekend, they travel to Seaham Red Star before having the opportunity to reduce the deficit to the table toppers when they host Redcar in midweek.
