Shanaya leaves X Factor but releases first single this week

Following her shock departure from this year’s X-Factor, Shanaya Atkinson-Jones releases Say Something by A Great Big World this Friday (13th October).

Shanaya won the hearts of the nation from the very first moment she hit our TV screens this August when she performed Say Something” on this year’s 14th Series of The X Factor.

Reducing Nicole Scherzinger and Alesha Dixon to tears, she left the judges speechless, with Simon Cowell commenting that she was everything he hoped they would find on this year show and that he loved her.

Having been championed as a possible winner, viewers, media and the other judges were left stunned when Sharon Osbourne failed to put her through to judge’s houses.

The outrage on social media and in the press has prompted the question: “Will there be a wild card?”

Shanaya feels that The X Factor has been nothing but a positive experience in her life and is thankful for all support she has received.

Having openly spoken about being adopted on the show she has received an incredible and positive response from her story.

Wanting to use the experience to help others like her, she has now teamed up with First4Adoption, the national information service for adoption who manage National Adoption Week which takes place from 16th – 22th October.

Since her first audition aired, Shanaya’s performance has had over 2.4 million views and an army of requests to record the track, so in an attempt to raise awareness for National Adoption week “Soulful Shanaya”, as she was dubbed by the show, is releasing her own version of Say Something on 13th October.

Shanaya is a no nonsense performer with pure emotion in every note: “I hope that my story can bring comfort to a young person waiting to find their forever home,” she said, “and that I can inspire forever parents into adopting a young person that needs them.”
