Sedgefield Water Polo Club would like to congratulate eight of their athletes who were selected to attend the England Water Polo Talent Games held at the Alan Higgs Centre, Coventry over the weekend of 27th and 28th April. Harry, Dylan, Kara and Indie represented the North East U14’s, Aston represented the North West U16’s and Kyle, Thomas and Gregor represented the North East U16’s. This was an excellent opportunity for a small club to have good representation at national level.
The event allowed the young athletes to compete against those from other talent centres in a round robin format tournament – gaining valuable high level competitive game play with some of the best athletes in the country, whilst also undertaking workshops on nutrition and how to balance school work with sporting commitments. Parents were also led through a safeguarding workshop.
The polo club can now offer player sponsorships for just £30 per player for the current season, in return for regular advertising and promotion on their social media pages. Businesses that are interested should not hesitate to get in touch. All monies raised will be used to allow the club’s members the opportunity to develop their skills and provide them with the equipment they need in order to succeed in the sport.
In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, Sedgefield Water Polo Club now offers a beginner session at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on a Saturday afternoon, for those wishing to try this fun and exciting sport. All sessions need to be booked in advance via the club app – please check the website for further information and joining instructions.
