Thursday 12th December saw the town’s three primary schools assisting the staff at Morrison’s Shildon, as well as representatives from Age UK, in a national bag packing event held by the store in aid of ITV’s Text Santa appeal.
Staff and volunteers from the local Age UK branch gave out information, advice and support as well as promoting their ‘Come Dine With Us’ events.
The school children and staff raised £261.95 for the appeal, which will be combined with amounts raised in all stores. The grand total will be announced on the live Text Santa show on ITV on Friday 20th December.
Look out for two of the Shildon Morrison’s staff, who will be guests in the audience of the live show.
Chris Stokoe, Checkout Supervisor at Shildon said, “On behalf of the management and staff, I would like to thank the children and staff from Thornhill, St John’s and Timothy Hackworth Primary Schools, the staff from Age UK, and the store’s customers for their kind giving and support.
“All monies raised for the Text Santa appeal will be distributed between the Text Santa charities which are, Barnardos, Age UK, CLIC Sargent, Beat Bullying, Help The Hospices and The British Heart Foundation”.
