Last weekend saw the running of the Yorkshire Marathon.

A determined few of the Shildon Running and Athletic Club travelled to York for the weekend on what turned out to be a pretty warm day for distance running, producing some stunning performances.

Stephen Scorer completed the marathon in an excellent 3:40:51 followed by Chris Griffith in 3:53:54. Donna Dunbar ran a PB of 4:09:08, Helen Race ran in 4:14:40(PB), James Ross completed the course in 4:37:39, Vivienne Rudge ran in 5:09:03 and John Gray finished in a time of 5:48:57.

This marathon was a first attempt for some and others produced personal best times.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Congratulations to all, whether running or supporting the runers. The support from the travelling non-running members of the club was, as always, amazing.”
