Runners complete half marathon

Natalie Race, Chris Owen, Dan Owen, Anthony Timms, Dawn Smith and Harley Smith.

Six local runners from the Cruz Control running group are celebrating an incredible weekend of results after all achieving personal bests in the Middlesbrough half marathon.

The runners produced a string of impressive performances, highlighting the dedication and progress being made by runners of all abilities within the growing community.

Among them were two runners who used the event not only to chase a faster time but also to raise funds for a charity close to their hearts, demonstrating how running can bring people together for causes that go far beyond the finish line.

The Cruz Control running group welcomes runners of all levels — from beginners taking their first steps into running to experienced athletes aiming to improve race performances.

Weekly group sessions focus on building confidence, technique, and structured training with the aim of helping runners train smarter and run faster.

Following the weekend’s success, the group is encouraging more local runners to get involved.

Friday group sessions take place every week at Shildon Stadium at 6.15pm.

The coached sessions are led by Colin Welsh, a fully qualified running coach with UK Athletics.

Anyone interested in attending the Friday sessions can email info@cruzcontrolruncoaching.co.uk or contact the coaching team through the Instagram social media @cruzcontrolruncoaching for more information.
