Shildon man, Richard Trowles is to take part in the Great North Run for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of his mother, who passed away 19 years ago, and his father who died from lung cancer earlier this year.
“I’ve trained really hard and I’m trying to get lots of sponsors as it means so much doing this for my mother whom I lost 19 years ago.
“I started running in late 2014 for Brain Tumour Research in memory of my mam. I originally planned just to do the Great Manchester Run in May for my mam, but my dad was then diagnosed with late stage lung cancer and unfortunately he passed away just three days before the run.
“I then decided to sign up for this year’s Great North Run on 13th September and I’ve also done lots of other running events throughout the year.
“My father’s passing has driven me to do as much as I can to raise money for cancer research and I’ve also joined Shildon running club to help with my training.
Anyone can donate to Richard’s cause by visiting the Justgiving website and searching for “Anthony Trowles”.
