Ferryhill Town Council is inviting residents to attend the town’s Annual Christmas Fayre and official Christmas Lights Switch on, which will take place on Friday 29 November.
The Fayre will officially commence at 1pm with a Christmas Market in the Market Place Car Park.
The Market will be joined at 2pm by children’s show rides and a catering vehicle.
At 4.15pm, carol singing by children from local primary schools will take place in the Town Hall garden, which will be followed by the official switch on of the Town’s Christmas Lights at 4.30pm.
The honour of switching on the Town’s lights this year will fall to a pupil from Cleves Cross Primary School.
The event will also include a Santa’s Grotto, free face painting, free children’s entertainment by Mr Windbags and the Mayor’s Charity Tombola Stall all taking place inside Ferryhill Town Hall from 4.30pm – 6pm.

Meanwhile, in order to facilitate the event there will be road closures and temporary bus stops in place throughout the day.
Market Street, the Unnamed Road between North Street and Market Street, and Chapel Terrace (Part) will be closed to all vehicles on Friday 29th November 2024, from 3.45pm – 6.00pm approximately.
Temporary Bus Stops will be erected to facilitate the above road closures as follows:
Service 7 will pick up outside the Co-op store en-route to Darlington and in the lay-by outside Bayleaves restaurant for journeys to Durham.
Service 56 will use the temporary bus stop outside the Ferryhill Workingmen’s Club for passengers travelling to Ferryhill Station, Mainsforth etc.
Service 8 will use the temporary bus stop outside the Co-op store en-route to Ferryhill Station and Darlington
Service 113 will use the temporary bus stop outside the Working men’s Club en-route to Sedgefield.
