The latest race of the Old Shildon Homing Society’s season took place on Saturday 22nd April, when the birds were liberated in Leicester, 142 miles from home, at 9.30am.
The first bird back to Shildon belonged to Smith, Alderson & Spark, arriving back within 2 hours 50 minutes at 12.20pm, flying at a pace of 1,470 yards per minute or 50.1 miles per hour.
Taking the next three places was T&J Brown with Smith, Alderson & Spark also placing fifth and J M Bell taking the final sixth place.
