Professional pyrotechnics light up the Chilton sky

The people of Chilton and visitors from farther afield enjoyed a fireworks and funfair spectacular at the Charlie Wayman Recreational Field.

Aerial fountains and waterfalls lit up the sky as the Chilton Town Council annual display attracted record crowds of local residents and visitors from further afield, to watch the fireworks extravaganza, reports Sue Reece.

In a sold-out event, over 1,000 people of all ages gathered on the Charlie Waymen Recreational Field to enjoy a vibrant display of professional pyrotechnics, ride the funfair, and eat traditional hotdogs, burgers and chips.

Gates opened at 5pm with the Chilton Mayor and Junior Mayor officiating the 7pm countdown.

Cllr Pearl Malpas, Chair of the Community and Events Committee said: “This is always a sell-out event in the Council’s annual calendar and it’s wonderful to see the delight on everyone’s face as the fireworks light up the sky”.

The Town Council would like to thank Rainbow Fireworks, Richardson Entertainment, Coffee Den, Hot Stuff Catering, St John’s Ambulance, British Legion Poppy Appeal, volunteers and marshals, for ensuring the event was a great success and of course, all the members of the public who came along to enjoy the activities.

There is also a special thank you to the Chilton Litter Pickers who, as always, help with the post event clean-up.
