Seventeen and 18-year-olds across County Durham were celebrating yesterday, having received their exam results.
Durham County Council is congratulating Level 3 students studying A-level, T-level, and BTEC National qualifications on their achievements this results day.
This year, the average grade achieved at A-level is B-, while the average grade for Applied General qualifications is Distinction. The average grade for T-Level qualifications is Distinction+. These are all above national averages and build on a strong record of performance by the county’s students over the last six years.
The council has received positive feedback from schools, with high proportions of students getting their first-choice university and others already beginning their journey on an exciting range of apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
Cllr Cathy Hunt, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “We are immensely proud of our young people, who have worked incredibly hard to gain the qualifications they have received today.
“Today is a significant moment for many students who move on to the next stage in their lives – whether that is continuing to study at university or taking their first steps into building their careers.
“However, it’s also a good time to remind students that their results alone do not determine their future potential. There are lots of fantastic opportunities on offer across County Durham, both vocational and academic, that young people can take advantage of in order to pursue their dreams.”
