Shildon Alive, the popular local charity which provides support to those most in need in the community, has been left reeling after a recent break-in and theft.
Project Manager and founder of the charity, Paula Nelson said: “Shortly after 10pm on Monday 4 November the charity’s support services was broken into.
“The door at 91 Church Street, near the Co-op Funeralcare gates was kicked in by one male.
“He entered the property and went straight to the first office where, after breaking the office door down, he stole a silver HP laptop then quickly exited.
“This laptop is used by our advice worker who has helped hundreds of families and individuals this last year, so this is a particularly distressing crime for all of the workers and volunteers at Shildon Alive, along with the wider community needing advice and support.”
The break-in was captured on CCTV and police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
“An investigation is ongoing”, they said. “If you have any information, call 101 quoting incident reference 472 of November 4.
