A Mr Mike Norman will be presenting a plaque to the Mayor and a small 10-minute presentation talk/handover title – ‘Timothy Hackworth is coming home’.
This small presentation will take part at the Shildon Town Council Offices on Sat 17 January at 11.30am in the Chamber and any members of the public who are interested are invited to attend.
The Plaque is a commissioned mounted lithograph A4 sized brass etched copies of an historic lithograph (above) that shows Hackworth, flanked by his first and last locomotives.
Mr Norman has recently published a number of articles, two books about Hackworth, and given a number of talks over the past three years.
Copies of the plaque have been donated to each of the four key aspects of his life and work established in Shildon: the Railway Institute that he founded, the School that carries his name, the current Methodist Chapel and also Shildon Council.
