King James I Academy Sixth Form students are celebrating another fantastic year of success, following A’ Level, Applied General and Tech Level results.
Many students are now looking forward to starting degree courses at universities across the country.
In A’ Level programmes, 71% of grades were A* – C, with 16% at A* or A grades.
Whilst results in all subjects were positive, outcomes were particularly strong in Maths, in which 100% of students achieved at least a C grade, with several achieving A* and A grades. In Art, 83% of students achieved A* – C grades, and in A’ Level Sciences, which includes Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science, 75% of students achieved A* – C.
In BTEC and technical subjects, the centre once again celebrated a 100% pass rate. 55% of students achieved the highest possible grades (Distinction* or Distinction) and 89% achieved at least a Merit grade.
In ICT and Performing Arts, 100% of students achieved a Distinction* or Distinction grade, and all students following Human Biology, Business, Media and Music achieved either a Merit, Distinction or Distinction* grade.
Special congratulations go to Isaac Chiang, who achieved A* grades in Computer Science, Maths and Further Maths, and an A grade in Chemistry.
He will now move on to the University of Warwick to follow a Science specialism.
Bobbie Davison also achieved superbly, with Distinction* and A grades in Media, History and Criminology.
Bobbie will now complete a degree programme in Film Studies at the University of Sunderland.
Other top performers were Danny Clay, who was awarded Distinction*, Distinction and A grades in Psychology, Media and Criminology, and Ella Bellamy, who achieved Distinction grades in Human Biology, Psychology and Health & Social Care; she will now go to the University of Plymouth to study nursing.
