Nominations are now open for Bishop Auckland Town Council’s Youth Awards 2024, with the winners being presented at an awards ceremony on Monday to be held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on 24 June.
Cllr Sam Zair, Mayor of Bishop Auckland said “This year there will be nine individual categories and three group categories.
“Applications are open until 1 May and can be found on the town council website at bishopauckland-tc.gov.uk.”
Cllr Kim Lawson, Chair of the Town Council Community Committee said: “Often young people get bad press but the town council wants to highlight that there are so many inspiring young people in our community.
“The 2023 Awards were a huge success, with 26 individuals and groups celebrated.
“We gave recognition to young carers, those that go the extra mile, those who have overcome difficult personal circumstances or helped others.
“The number of nominations received last year was fantastic and we hope to receive even more this year, meaning that the selection panel will have a hard job to select the winners”.
The Council are also looking for Bishop Auckland based businesses who wish to work with them to support the awards via sponsorship, which will enable the winners to receive a gift voucher, as well as their trophy and certificate.
Sponsors will be invited to the event awards event on the presentation night. The Council is seeking to secure five final sponsors. If you are interested, contact them on 01388 207110 or email council[@]bishopauckland-tc[.]gov[.]uk.
