That men, women and children of all ages can participate?
That there are several different styles of Morris Dancing and each Side dons their own unique kit?
That some dance with hankies (Cotswold), some with sticks (Border), some with swords (Rapper) and some with bobbins and garlands (Northwest)?
That it is a fun way to exercise, learn anew skill and build social connections?
If you think Morris Dancing sounds like the kind of fun tradition you would like to get involved in, why not try Traditional Morris Dancing with your local side, Locos in Motion? Have a go? Start a new hobby? Meet new people?
Locos in Motion are named after Locomotion No.1, the world’s first passenger steam train which travelled the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825. The group has been dancing for over 25 years in a style originating from the English/Welsh border. This style is known for dancing with various sized sticks and for wearing hats and rag jackets.
From the middle of September we will be back at Sadberge Village Hall on Tuesdays, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm. Now is the ideal time to join us as it gives you time to learn the dances ready for next summer season. During the summer months we dance outside local pubs on Tuesday evenings. We also perform at local fetes, galas, community events, WI evenings and join other Morris Sides for full day events.
