Spennymoor Town Ladies FC celebrated a dramatic last gasp win in their latest North East Regional Women’s Football League match at the weekend, made all the sweeter for being a derby match against local rivals Bishop Auckland Ladies.

The sides were level on points going into the game at the Brewery Field on Sunday, so there was plenty at stake as well as local bragging rights.

In front of a healthy crowd of 201, Moors Ladies got off to a dream start, taking the lead in the second minute through top scorer Autumn Colledge.

Moors held the lead during a fiesty encounter until the 81st minute when Bishop Auckland equalised.

It looked as though honours may be even but in the final minute, Hannah Knox popped up to score from close range and secure all three points and a dramatic league double for the Moors over their local rivals.

Moors now sit third in the table pursuing a third promotion in three seasons.

Amongst the supporters were all the Spennymoor Town Youth FC girls who were mascots for the game and met the players afterwards for photos and autographs.
