Spennymoor Town FC will kick-off the 2024/25 National League North season on home soil after they were handed a date with Chester on the opening day.

The fixtures for the new campaign were released on Wednesday lunchtime and Graeme Lee’s men will begin and end on home soil with Oxford City the visitors on the final day.

Moors will play host to South Shields in a mouthwatering Boxing Day fixture at The Brewery Field before making their way to play at Scarborough Athletic on New Year’s Day.

Those fixtures are reversed over the Easter weekend with Moors entertaining Scarborough on Good Friday prior to an Easter Monday trip to South Shields.

Fans won’t have to wait long for the first crunch clash with Darlington with Moors scheduled to travel to Blackwell Meadows on Saturday 31 August, whilst The Quakers will make the return trip to The Brewery Field on Saturday 1 February.

Moors boos Graeme Lee said: “It’s fantastic that we’re at home on the opening day and the last day – that can be a real positive for us, particularly if we can recreate the sort of form we saw at The Brewery Field towards the end of last term.

“Obviously, Chester will be a big challenge for us because they’re one of the teams being tipped to do well in the new season.

“They sort of fell away from the play-offs towards the end of last term in what was almost the opposite to us but we know they are one of the fancied teams and they have strengthened well over the summer.

“We all know that Ben Pollock moved there too, and I’m sure he won’t be surprised that the fixture list has thrown the game up so quickly.

“It will be a big game for us to start but one we can look forward to immensely.”

They visit Consett this Saturday at 3pm and travel the short distance to neighbours Shildon on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm before hosting Doncaster Rovers at the Brewery Field the following Saturday (20 July) and visiting Stockton Town at 7.30pm on Tuesday 23 July.
