Magistrate retires after 27 years

OlgaAt Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Thursday 18th December, Shildon girl Mrs Olga Bainbridge retired after twenty seven years as a Justice.

Olga, who also retired as an NHS nurse some years ago, began her service at Sedgefield in 1987 when their offices were Portakabins in a car park. She moved to Newton Aycliffe in 2002 when the new Magistrates Courts were established.

Her service included membership of the Family Panel, the Drug Rehabilitation Service and for six years as a Justices of the Peace Representative.

Mrs Bainbridge’s work with “Magistrates in the Community” will continue until a suitable replacement is able to take over from her.

Olga still lives in Shildon with her husband Len and her family.
