It was lucky number 13 for Lifeline Community Action recently when Elm Road WMC donated their 13th charity cheque for £1,000. Each time the club selects a local charity, members continue to donate until the target of £1,000 is reached, at which point the funds are handed over.
Alan Johnston presented the club’s thirteenth £1,000 cheque to Carol and Cath from Lifeline Community Action. The charity operates from the heart of Newton Aycliffe, providing emergency aid and supporting services to families and individuals who find themselves in great need. Beneficiaries are primarily referred from other voluntary agencies, health visitors, social workers, midwives and other statutory agencies, but they can also accept self-referrals. Carol and Cath thanked everyone who donated and said the money would help even more individuals and families throughout County Durham. The club has chosen Shildon All Saints Boy Scouts as the recipient of its 14th £1,000 fundraiser.
