Spennymoor’s very own singer/songwriter Ste Johnson has an exciting year ahead of him with the release of his new EP Better Days, as well as several festival performances both in the UK and Europe, including at August’s Party in the Park in his home town.
A former pupil at Tudhoe Grange Comprehensive, Ste joined the RAF at the age of 20, serving a full career.
He then decided to follow his passion for music and has fronted various cover bands performing all over the world and more recently as a solo performer playing summer seasons at iconic live music venues in Ayia Napa, Cyprus.
Ste’s song writing is infectious with a mix of songs, from heartfelt and inspiring, through to upbeat and catchy melodies which grab your attention and stay with you.
Most recently, Ste has performed as a solo artist and directly supported the likes of Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, John Power, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Chesney Hawkes and The Bootleg Beatles.
He has performed for the armed forces all over the world, which has led to many radio and TV appearances including The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.
His first single release was By My Side which was used by the BBC for their primetime Strictly Come Dancing programme.
Following this he was asked to perform in Kensington for William and Kate, at the time the Prince and Princess of Cambridge.
Ste is extremely excited to be bringing his original solo work back to the North East this summer with a full live band behind him made up of all local musicians: Ryan Murray, Jon Dixon, Dan Potter, James Taylor and Colin Faddy.
Anyone heading to the popular Hardwick Festival this year will find Ste and the band playing on the Saturday with the headline acts over the weekend being the Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys and Olly Murs.
Ste also has his very own headline show with the band at the Cluny music venue in Newcastle on 8 August with his support act being another well known Spennymoor performer, the excellent Steven Fothergill.

Ste will then be performing the following day at Spennymoor’s very own Party In the Park.
This will be a solo acoustic performance without the band where he’ll perform cover songs with maybe a couple of originals thrown in.
