Mia, the National Champion in gymnastics.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Coundon, Bishop Auckland is celebrating an outstanding sporting success after one of its pupils was crowned a National Champion in gymnastics.

Mia travelled to Liverpool this weekend to compete in the National Gymnastics Championships, having already achieved an incredible milestone by qualifying as one of just 36 finalists from a field of 211 Bronze-level gymnasts.

Competing against the very best in the country, Mia delivered an exceptional performance and was crowned National Champion, securing 1st place overall in her category.

In an even more remarkable achievement, she also recorded the highest overall score across the entire competition for her age group, placing her firmly at the top of her field nationally.

Mia’s success is a testament to her hard work, dedication, resilience and determination, with her commitment to training clearly reflected in her performance on the national stage.

A spokesperson for St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School said:
“We are incredibly proud of Mia and all that she has achieved. This is a truly outstanding accomplishment, and she is an inspiration to her peers. We look forward to celebrating her success with her when she brings her trophy into school.”

Mia is excited to share her achievement with her classmates and teachers, bringing her trophy into school to celebrate with the whole community.

The school is inviting parents, families and the wider Bishop Auckland community to join them in congratulating Mia on her exceptional success.
