Unfortunately with work commitments in the area, working for the Christian Partnership within the money advice team, working as a benefit and debt advisor, I have taken the decision to resign as a town councillor of Ferryhill. I want to thank all residents for the support they have given me and some councillors of Ferryhill that have assisted me too.
I wanted to become a councillor to help Ferryhill in a positive way, applying for grants and to share the ideas I had to take Ferryhill forwards to replicate the likes of Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor, who have been awarded major grants in the past. I was also keen to bring a better shopping value to Ferryhill too. But unfortunately the political divide at the council is too extreme for me to do the tasks I wanted to do so I regularly found myself immensely frustrated.
A reflection of my time on council is helping the residents that needed things done and it made me happy to hear them say thanks when their issues were sorted out.
I would like to wish the new clerk, Leanne and the rest of her team, as well as the council in general, good luck for the future and hope my replacement has the same ideology as me about Ferryhill. Ideally I would prefer not to to be replaced by someone who will be there only to make the representative party’s numbers up to gain power.
