The Three Tuns Leek Show was held at Old Shildon Club last weekend, due to the ever increasing price of hiring a marquee.
Joss Aldworth and his son Michael were 1st and 2nd for the third Saturday running, with Joss showing a very impressive 294 cubic inches and Michael 265. Barry Woodward was 3rd with 219.
Joss also won the Best Leek In Show award, while David Snowball won the Long Leek with 180 and also the Intermediate with a leek measuring 88 cubic inches.
Gary Richardson cleaned up in the Vegetables section winning eleven stands. In the Flower section Brian Richardson won both the Cactus and Decorative Dahlias and Dave Snowball won the Carnations.
Down at the Sports Field Bobby Appleby came in 1st in the Leeks with a pair measuring 262 cubic inches. Val Brennan was second with 172 and Michael Graham was 3rd with 148. Bobby also won both the award for Best Leek in Show and the Intermediate Leek with 134.
Brian Walton won the Long Leek, the Stump Carrots and the Tray of Three Vegetables. Bobby Appleby won the Two Fresh Pulled Onions and the Long Carrots, while Dave Snowball won the Shallots and the Cauliflower.
In the Flower Section, Kenny Shaw won the Decs, the Cactus and the Vase of Blooms. Joe Peers won the Carnation and Ian Kitching the Pot Plant.
