This August, Shildon man, Lee Williams, has decided to go the extra mile and take part in a Cycle the Month 500km Challenge, to raise money for three different charities.
Lee said: “I have set myself a personal challenge to ride my bike every day for a month to get to 500km (310miles), but this is nothing compared to the work that these charities do, everyday, every month, every year. Deliverance is a charity close to my family’s heart, tirelessly working to save animals from danger and confinement, working towards finding them a safe and loving forever home.”
“I’m also raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK because prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and money raised will go towards life changing research and supporting families affected by by the illness.”
“The third charity I am helping is Brain Tumour Research because brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is something that has affected close friends and my own family.”
“I’m really looking forward to hitting the road, or the gym, to challenge myself this August, and I’m delighted to be raising awareness and funds to help my chosen charities.”
