Last midweek, the 1sts enjoyed an entertaining victory against Hartlepool in the Quarter Final of the Div 2 Hundred.
Skipper Greg Upton won the toss and elected to bat.
The skipper led from the front, top scoring with 45 off 35 balls (5x4s, 2x6s), with support from Sam Telford who scored a quick 29 off 22 balls (3x4s, 1×6) setting 141/5 from the hundred balls.
In reply, Shildon started brightly and kept things very tight throughout the game with an exceptional effort in the field and with the ball.
Pick of the bowlers was Shane Rowley, wreaking absolute havoc through the Hartlepool order in his 4-17 off 20 balls.
Further wickets from Ste Forster (2-7 off 15), Cordie McKendry (1-10 off 20) and Carl Crabtree (1-20 off 10) wrapped up the cup tie as Hartlepool could only amass 107-9 off their hundred balls.
A very positive victory books the Railwaymen a ticket to Middlesbrough for the semi-final.
However, the weekend was not great for either team, with both teams coming away as second best.
The 1sts made a bit more of a game of it, setting 114 as a target for Norton, with only three batters getting into double figures.
They had a bit more joy with the ball, the pick of the bowlers being Rob Nevison (3-40) and Cordie McKendry (2-35) as Norton won by 4 wickets.
In the 2nds game, the lads were put into bat and were disappointingly all out for 49, where only two batters got into double figures and there were six batters failing to get off the mark.
With the ball, there was also a lack of joy with only Darren Waites finding a reward with his first wicket of the season with a brilliant caught and bowled effort.
Eryholme knocked the target off in in the 9th over and took maximum points.
Both teams will be hoping to bounce back in their next fixtures.
