Latics canter past Chester-le-St

Action from Ferryhill Athletic’s league win over Chester-le-Street United PV at Dean Bank last Saturday.

Adam Morland notched his second hat-trick for Ferryhill Athletic in just four games against Chester-le-Street United PV in front of a large crowd at Dean Bank on Saturday, reports Fraser Reynolds.

Lee Jewett named an unchanged side with injured players Reece Marshall, Kieran Gilham, Marco Linhart and Chris Devine returning to the bench. All four were able to get a run out in the second half. Morland opened his account early on before Kieran Richardson outjumped the visitors’ defence to power home a header into the bottom corner. Matty Agar was on the scoresheet next, getting his first goal for the club.

The Chester-le-Street team are based at Park View Academy but their lack of experience showed against a Ferryhill team playing their best football of the season. Chris Devine chipped the advancing keeper to make it four then Morland added another two goals to cap a brilliant performance which earned him the man of the match award and saw the Latics occupy third place in the early season table.

Next up, Ferryhill travel to face Hetton Juniors in the Durham FA Minor Cup, this weekend, on 9 September. Kick-off time is 1.30pm at the South Hetton Cricket Ground, DH6 2TF.
