Latest running club report

The weekend of the 14th and 15th of May saw two of Shildon’s Jumps groups competing at the North East County Championships at Gateshead International Stadium.

Leah Rutherford (U15g) ran in the 200m, recording a time of 29.33s, not quite quick enough for a place in the final.

The following day she competed in the 100m and Long Jump.

In the 100m, she ran a new PB of 13.9s to qualify for the final where she finished 7th with a time of 14.6s.

In the long jump, Leah jumped a season’s best of 4.06m for 6th place.

Amy Etherington (SW) ran in the 400m claiming 4th place in a time 61.5s.

On Tuesday 3rd May, three of Shildon’s jumps group attended the lastest round of the North Yorkshire and South Durham League.Competing in the 100m, Leah Rutherford ran a time of 14.6s to claim 4th place, and jumped to 5th place in the long jump with a leap of 3m and 90cm.

Rachel McHugh claimed 1st place in the Senior Women’s long jump event with a leap of 5m and 12cm.

Completing the trio was Amy Etherington, who, in the SW800m ran 2 minutes and 28 seconds to claim second place.

Sunday the 8th of May saw the jumps group split over two venues.

Amy Etherington competing in the Cyril Elliot Open at Middlesbrough, won the SW 400m in a time of 61.11s and Leah Rutherford competed in three events at the York Summer League.

She started her day by knocking almost a second off her PB in the 200m with a time of 28.6s, giving her overall victory out of two heats, before following it up with 7th in the long jump with a leap of 3 minutes and 94 seconds, and finished off with 4th in the 100m sprint with a time of 14.4s.

Leah Rutherford competed at the first York Summer League meeting of 2016 producing good performances in both the 100 and 200 metre sprints. Running from the bottom of the age group she achieved a new PB of 29.3s in the 200m sprint claiming 5th place and in the 100m equalling her PB of 14.3s, also quick enough for 5th.

On the 20th May, Leah Rutherford attended her 1st outdoor event of the season at Cleckheaton for the Spenborough Winter Warm up Open.

Competing in the 100m sprint, she ran a new PB of 14.3s giving her joint 4th place.

She followed this up with another PB in the 200m event clocking 29.6s and tied for 3rd.
