The latest group to benefit from Ferryhill Town Council’s Members Initiative Fund is Ferryhill LADDER Centre.
Councillor Stephen Bowron visited the centre to present Nigel Jones with a cheque for £200 from his MIF allocation.
Ferryhill LADDER Centre provides an invaluable service for the community of Ferryhill, including free support and guidance on a wide range of issues from employment opportunities, access to training and benefits advice.
The centre also offers free access to IT services and hosts youth and several social activity groups aimed at tackling social isolation, access to sporting activities and improving mental health.
The centre is also a referral point for the town’s foodbank and an access point for the NE First Credit Union.
The funding will be specifically used to contribute towards covering the costs of taking members of the centre’s mens and ladies groups on day trips.
Cllr Bowron said: “I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile project.
“Ferryhill LADDER Centre continue to support the community of Ferryhill in so many ways, and I am only too pleased to be able to contribute some funding to this specific project.”
