A local author will be launching her latest book of short stories at Bishop Auckland Town Hall next week.
Wendy Robertson, who already has twenty novels and many short stories under her belt, will be unveiling her latest work, ‘Knives’, a collection of stories inspired by her north-east roots and her recent experience as Writer in Residence in a women’s prison.
The stories in the book range from the inspired ravings of an old woman to a young man who goes to view a house and has a near miss with a psychopathic killer.
Wendy said, “I think that more than violence, more than darkness, all these stories reflect the knowingness and the sense of irony – even comedy – that is the human saving grace of people under stress and either physical or psychological confinement.”
The launch will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 7.30pm, when Wendy will read from the stories and discuss their inspiration.
