Support Worker of the Year Award

LINDA-DIXON---KING-JAMES-I-ACADEMYFollowing nomination by a number of Sixth Form students at King James I Academy, Learning Support Mentor, Linda Dixon, has been declared Support Worker of the Year at the Journal’s prestigious North East Schools Awards 2014.

Linda works primarily with Sixth Formers but she is well known and loved by students across all year groups for her caring attitude and patience. She provides Sixth Form students in particular with an outstanding level of support with anything they need, from help with course work to advice about life.

Linda said, “I was extremely flattered to have been nominated for the award, especially when that nomination came directly from students, but actually winning it is very special.
“I have worked at King James for 15 years and love my job; every day is different and it is a real privilege to be part of the children’s lives.”

Sixth Form student, Charlotte Bennett said, “Linda goes above and beyond as a support worker; she even comes into school at 7am when we have exams to make us breakfast, offer reassurance and help to keep us calm.

“She really deserves the award and we are all so pleased she has won. I hope this helps to show just how much we appreciate her.”
