On Wednesday, 10th April, 8-year-old Jacob Hutchinson of Middlestone Moor Primary School was set to swim one mile for the Childrens Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at Freeman’s Hospital.
Not only did Jacob totally smash the one mile barrier (64 lengths), he went on to swim another 16 lengths to take his total swim to 2000m.
His swimming instructor, Will Coulson of Aquacktic Swim School said Jacob is now his longest ever swimmer and was so proud to be able to give him a 2000m certificate.
Jacob’s current running total for his fund raising stands at £694.
Jacob said “I’ve swum a lot further than my target so I would love to do the same with my fundraising and see if I can smash the £1,000 mark.”
Anyone wishing to donate and can do so up until April 30th by visitng Jacob’s gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/jacob039s-1-mile-swim.
Jacob’s mam, Helen said: “The family are absolutely bursting with pride and can’t wait to see what adventure Jacob wants to take us on next.
“We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations and messages of support.
“It really means a lot to Jacob to know that others outside the family have supported him too.”
