A Meet the Museum event has been organised for Tuesday 8 April at Locomotion in Shildon, with the public and local businesses invited to go along, meet the team and hear more about events planned for the year, including the S&DR Bicentenary celebrations.
Locomotion Operations and Events Manager, Pam Porter said: “We’re looking forward to sharing information on how Locomotion will be celebrating the bicentenary of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway throughout 2025.
“We’ll also be welcoming the statue of engineer Robert Stephenson, which is due to be installed at Locomotion shortly.
“All are welcome and there will be free refreshments.”
Katharine Harbord of the National Railway Museum added: “Meet the Museum is a great chance for the local community to meet the team.
“There will be plenty of news about plans for this year including events in conjunction with the S&DR200 festival.
“We will also be marking the unveiling of a significant statue of engineer Robert Stephenson, which has come to Locomotion having been removed from Euston Station to make way for HS2 development works.”
