When staff at Innovations, a day centre for adults with learning difficulties, heard about Real Radio’s recent fundraiser, they decided to help out.
Staff at their five centres, which are in Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Ferryhill, Spennymoor and South Hetton, took part in a ‘bring a pound to work day’ in order to raise money for Zoe’s Place, a respite home for babies in Middlesbrough.
The home is not funded by the NHS and relies on donations. Around £800,000 a year is needed to keep it running.
Susan Jones, a staff member at Innovations, visited the five centres along with some eager fundraisers in order to collect the money, a massive £120.
“Innovations promote the principle of community inclusion and this was another wonderful opportunity for Innovations to offer our support for a worthwhile cause,” said a spokesperson for the centre.
