Ferryhill Town Council would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and participated in its Armed Forces Day Celebrations over the weekend.
The celebrations began on Friday, 26 June, with Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari officiating at a Flag Raising Ceremony in the Town Hall Garden. A big thank you to Ex N.C.O. Andy Denholm, 15th/19th The Kings Royal Hussars for raising the flag and to Deputy County Parade Marshall, Andrew Barker for carrying the Ferryhill Station Royal British Legion Standard accompanied by Robert Gray. The Town Council were also thrilled to welcome Alan Strickland MP, County Royal British Legion Chairman Malcolm Barnes, Local Veteran Ronnie Evans and local residents to the proceedings.
The Town Council would also like to thank everyone who attended its Armed Forces Day Party in the Park event held at Dean Bank Recreation Park on Sunday, 28 June.
A special thanks to Scott from AH Events Ltd. for working tirelessly to organise the event, which was officially opened by Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari, who in his opening speech paid tribute to our Armed Forces past and present, thanking them for their service.
The Town Council extends its thanks to the Ivorson Public House for providing an impressive bar and to its hardworking staff, who never stopped all day. A big thanks also goes to the event sponsors: the Ministry of Defence (MOD), County Councillors Joe Quinn and Paul Mountford via the Local Networks, Supportive SRC Ltd, Livin, Mel’s Travel, Northeast Stair Lift Company, The Anderson Group and Catertech. The Council is also grateful to all stallholders, catering vehicles and stage acts, including DJ and compere Brian Houshby, Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band, BGT’s Soldiers of Swing, Soul Street, Danny Wells and Ulee40. Finally, a huge thank you goes to residents for attending the event on such a hot day, joining the celebrations and showing appreciation for our armed forces and all that they do, and have done, to protect our way of life.
