Nine members of the Chikara Dojo in Spennymoor passed their gradings recently. The grading lasted for a full weekend and formed part of the club’s annual summer camp.
From the kids class Jack Murfet achieved his white belt stripe. India Allum, Hannah Grayson, Ava Jones, Charles Murfet, Eric Ruiu and William Murfet all achieved their orange belts.
From the adults class Leanne Murfet achieved her orange belt, black stripe and after some particularly tough fights. Michelle Corner achieved her well deserved brown belt black stripe, qualifying her to take her black belt grading in one year’s time.
Chief Instructor, Adam Walker said: “I am extremely proud of all who took part in this grading and passed. Dedicating time and effort to a martial art is tough, particularly when there are so many other distractions. Having a discipline such as that taught at our club not only helps people become physically stronger, it also helps them to become mentally stronger too, preparing us for life’s knocks.”
