Funds raised for Peru trip

Katie and some of the children she met in Peru.

Councillor Shirley Quinn was recently approached by David Matthews to ask for help and advice on how to raise funds for his daughter Katie’s trip to Peru.

Katie attends St Johns RC Comprehensive in Bishop Auckland, who arranged an expedition to Peru to help build a learning building for the children.

Former Mayor and Councillor Shirley Quinn was happy to help and suggested several ways to raise the £2,000 needed to fund the trip.

Katie and her family held raffles, tombola stalls, sold items and approached people to sponsor her trip.

Councillor Quinn also donated £200 to kick start Katie’s fund raising and agreed to buy a plaque on behalf of Shildon.

Councillor Quinn thanks everyone who took part in this vital project.
