Food festival will be biggest yet

The town’s annual food festival promises to be bigger and better than ever this year with a record number of stallholders already signed up.

A total of 128 exhibitors are set to attend Bishop Auckland Food Festival on Saturday 16th April.

Dwwue to the unprecedented level of interest in the event, Durham County Council will be making more space in the market place to accommodate extra stalls.

Beryl Anderson, Durham County Council events officer, said, “We have been overwhelmed with the response we have received from people wanting to take part in the festival.

“Each year, we seem to attract more visitors and, judging by the amount of interest so far, this year looks set to be no different.”

First-time exhibitors at this year’s event will include stalls offering specialist cheeses, wines, meringues, Italian spices, paella, granola, haggis, Mediterranean vegetables, mustards, rose veal and game.

Asda will be lending its support to the event by offering shoppers a free taste of products from its Chosen by You range.

A free park-and-ride service will also be operating from the store’s car park on the day of the festival.
