With support from Bishop Auckland and Shildon (BASH) AAP, the Family Action Bridge Young Carers have secured funding to appoint a part time counsellor.
Family Action has been working with the Bishop Auckland and Shildon Area Action Partnership to improve the identification and support for young carers living in the local area.
Alison Hicks Project manager said, “Family Action were delighted when Andrew Walker from BASH AAP introduced them to a charitable trust.
“They arranged to visit the service and spent time with a young carer.
“We were absolutely thrilled to hear that The Bridge has been awarded a grant of £17,587.
“We will now be able to employ a part time counsellor, which will mean that many more young carers get the support that they need.
“We are looking forward to continuing this partnership with the AAP and building stronger networks for young carers.”
Andrew Walker AAP Coordinator said, “We are delighted that we have been able to support Family Action with their project.
“Children and young people are a key priority for the BASH AAP and this funding will go to support the fantastic work that Family Action do to support young people, not only in our area but across the county.”
