For the last 30 years Bishop Auckland Rotary Club have taken pupils and staff of Evergreen Primary School to a local Pantomime at The Gala Theatre, Durham or The Hippodrome, Darlington, reports John Yeomans.
The idea of a treat like this came from our longest serving Rotarian, Derek Priestman.
These days the trip is organised by Rotarians Joe Ward and Peter Cooke but Derek is still involved.
Recently as a way of saying thank you to the Rotary Club, the school’s staff and pupils invited the members to join them for afternoon tea which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
The Rotary Club would also like to thank Hodgson’s Coaches of Barnard Castle for supplying the transport at a reduced cost.
